Setting Speeds Track and Turnout speeds:
Setting location of new limit:
Press the number key corresponding to the speed you wish to set. Multiple presses are sometimes required; where these are available, the editor will cycle through the choices. The new limit is shown in white on the grey background of the editor screen. You will notice that exactly a mile before that point there will now be a yellow version of the same number. This is an advance warning, and is represented on the route as you drive by a yellow diamond trackside sign with the same number inside it. Choose location with care:
In the illustration below, we see a section of single-track railway with a yellow warning sign advising a change in speed limit one mile ahead, reducing to 50mph, located 3 editor steps past an automatic (permissive) signal. Just before it, we see the establishment of a speed limit of 60mph, whose advance warning had been placed 1 mile further back. Although not shown in the capture, the speed limit had been 70mph up to that point. From looking at the track, you can see that it is on a straight section after a left-hand curve, and that it is running through a very deep cutting. There are also trees placed on both sides of the track. Remember that when driving the simulator, an increase in speed does not show a trackside sign, and also that when you drive the route, you should not increase speed until the last wagon in the consist has passed the new limit sign. This is where the End-Of-Train key F6 comes in handy. Limits:
